Résumé of issue This issue relates to all Head Codes featuring Seismic analysis and design and affects only models with steel seismic force resisting systems (SFRS) and the auto-design process, not check-design.  Where Vibration analysis is selected for the fundamental period and steel members of the SFRS are set to auto-design, a subsequent  Vibration analysis is not performed after changes in section size during the design process.  This can result in an underestimate of the seismic forces and hence an unconservative design.  The issue does not affect concrete models since sections sizes

Résumé of issue This issue relates to the seismic design of reinforced concrete columns for the US Head Code and ACI 318-14 only. For columns assigned to Intermediate Moment Frames and the seismic shear design/ check of seismic combinations, the value of the largest shear force in a stack with increased earthquake effect was incorrectly set to zero. This had the potential to produce an unconservative check where shear was critical. Résumé of issue This issue relates to the analysis and design of meshed concrete walls for all Head Codes. The issue occurred only for the less common case of inclined meshed walls. For these the sign and/or value of 2D Wall Results (Wall Line forces) axial and shear results could be incorrect. Since these results are used in concrete wall design checks, this could produce an unconservative design. Résumé of issue Tekla Structural Designer 2018 added a link to Tekla Connecti​on Designer (formerly Fastrak Connections) in order to design base plates and moment connections in models where the Head code was either Eurocodes or British Standards. Connections are designed in accordance with the appropriate Steel Construction Institute Green book, which for base plate connections deals with major axis shear only. Résumé of Issue This issue relates to the design of Isolated Foundations to all Head Codes.  The punching shear perimeters previously determined for column and pile punching checks were not always the shortest possible perimeters when near to the foundation edges.  For column punching, the issue would be more likely to occur for those with larger eccentricities and base/ cap geometries which placed the column closer to the edges/ corners. When I export a report to Word it opens in a different application even though I have Word installed - why?

Info The report export to Word function uses a simple approach to creating the report. It generates a rich text format (rtf) file and then requests the operating system to open said file. It's then up to the operating system to determine which application to open the file in. Usually, if you have it installed, Word will be your registered application to open files with an rtf file extension. Solution In some circumstances Word is not your default application for opening rtf's. If this is the case you just need to change this in your Settings > Choose a default app by file type. Then

Why does the number of In Use Licenses not match the number of Users using the program?

When looking at the Server Status in the Tekla Structural License Server Manager, why does the number of In Use licenses not match the number of Users using the program? There always seems to be more User records than Licenses In Use.   Answer The license model used is per host machine so you may run the application on a single host PC any number of times without it using up an additional licenses. How do I manually reorder load cases, load groups, combinations or envelopes in Tekla Structural Designer?

Question I have used the "Generate" command to create some load combinations and then subsequently added some manually created combinations to the bottom of the list. Is it possible to reorder the combinations in Tekla Structural Designer? Nothing appears to happens when I run a "Design Selection" command. Why is this?

Question If we right click a member in the active scene view, the context menu display two design options - Design Member and Design Selection. When we use the Design Member command on a member it automatically chooses a suitable section from the design section order list. However, if we use Design Selection it seems like nothing happens.
