I am integrating with Revit© 2021 or later and have problems with the default metric section mapping

Background

To integrate with Revit 2021 or later, download the Integrator for the specific version of Revit you are using.  There is a specific Integrator for each version of Revit.   For example for Revit 2021 install the Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit© 2021 (version 7.0) released in July 2020.  This is available from Tekla Downloads.

This issue is caused by a change in the path to the Revit country specific Libraries content and can potentially affect Revit 2021 and later and countries using Metric units and data, but will specifically affect the UK.

When importing a Tekla Structural Designer model into Revit and performing mapping of sections, you may find that some families such as Universal Beams or Universal Columns are not being automatically mapped as illustrated in the pictures below.  This is because by default Autodesk Revit will be installed to search the English (US Metric) content rather than the UK metric content

Solution

Alter the Revit defaults to suit the UK as follows.

  1. If you are part way through an Import process using the Revit Integrator , cancel this
  2. Click on File > Options
  3. Click on File Location
  4. Click on Places
  5. Find the entry for Metric Library and ensure the path for this is as follows depending on the Revit Version:
  • Revit 2021 set the Metric Library path = 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2021\Libraries\UK"
  • Revit 2022/3/4 set the Metric Library path = 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 202X\Libraries\English\UK"
    • where "X" is 2, 3 or 4 as appropriate to your Revit version.

There is no need to restart Revit having done this, just rerun the import again and the default mapping should work effectively.
