Question:
When creating drawings, the layers are mostly using the same colour and style, is there any way to change them?
Answer:
Yes, the colour styles can be changed from Draw > Layer Styles and selecting the appropriate drawing variation. In Tekla Structural Designer 2019 SP2, you can simply Load the global settings to use the new Layer and Colour Styles.
Example
Using old settings
- From the Draw menu, select Settings > Layer Styles > Planar Drawings
- Click OK
- Create general arrangement drawing for the active 2D view, from Drawing menu > General Arrangement
The GA drawing opens using the old colour and layer styles.
Using new settings
- From the Draw menu, select Settings > Layer Styles > Planar Drawings
- Load the currently active global settings, click Load...
- Click Yes and OK
- Create general arrangement drawing for the active 2D view, from Drawing menu > General Arrangement
The GA drawing opens using the new colour and layer styles.
Note
- The new styles will be active in new installations but are not automatically added to existing installations, since you may have customised your settings and so would not want them to be changed or updated. If you wish to use the new defaults in an existing installation and for existing models, your settings set(s) can be updated by the following process:
- If you have made any customisations, we recommend you rename your existing Settings set(s) via the Home ribbon open Settings > Setting Sets; select the set(s) you wish to rename and click the Rename button to do so. You can then revert to the previous set(s) if you wish. Then click the Import…button to import the new updated settings set(s).
- To update styles in existing models; open Draw > Settings and click the Load… button to load the updated settings into the model.
