Question
Is there a way to stop the solver running while it’s going? I’ve noticed that if I try to run a model which, whilst valid according to Tekla Structural Designer, has some “overly-pinned” members that the solver takes hours to run through, as it calculates parts of the structure deflecting off to infinity.
Answer
During an Analysis/Design process a Cancel button will appear in the bottom left of the taskbar next to Show Process. Press this button to stop the analysis/design.Image
We recommend that you run the analysis method of choice via the Analyse ribbon for just the self weight and self weight of slab to determine possible instabilities which are reported in the Project Workspace > Status tree, before moving onto all load cases/combination or a design.
There is a guide available on the Tekla User Assistance to answer the question "(N-1) rule for the number of pins to apply at a node where N members meet." which can be found here, which is typically the cause of slow analysis.
