When trying to view License Activity Reports

  • Peak Use reports open but have no data
  • Requests by reports work fine
  • Usage by reports fail to open and generate this message:
    Enter Parameter Value: FormatMinutesAsHoursAndMinutes
Note: This message window is normally behind the License Server Manager dialog so is appears the application has frozen.

Solution

The error occurs because the security settings in Microsoft Access are stopping macros in the database from executing which are required to create the data for the usage reports.

Add the Certificate that the License Manager is signed with into the Trusted Publishers.

  1. Open Microsoft Access (or Access Runtime)
  2. Open the database file installed in the Tekla License Service directory
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tekla\Structural\Licensing\LicenseUsage.mdb
  3. The Security Warning bar should appear at the top of the Access window beneath the ribbon
  4. Click on the link in the bar Click for more details

Further information

  1. You may also be required to provide Modify rights for users to the Tekla License Service installation directory
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tekla\Structural\Licensing
  2. If you have clicked the Enable content button previously you may no longer see the Warning notification because the document has been added to your Trusted Documents but the reports will still not work. The workaround is to temporarily disable the Trusted Documents option from within Access
File > Options > Trust Center > Trusted Documents.
